Pushing the Boundaries (PTB)

Each year GTT works with the Macintyre Valley Cotton Growers Association along with local cotton industry stakeholders to deliver Pushing the Boundaries - Cottoning onto Careers.

The aim of the program is to increase students' knowledge of the diverse range of career opportunities available in agriculture and associated agribusinesses as well as strengthen industry links with local education providers.

PTB follows the cotton trail and includes taking high school staff and students on a tour of a local cotton farm to see firsthand the level of technology, science and expertise involved in the industry. Students are also taken on industry visits to understand the broad range of stakeholders involved in the cotton industry.

The diverse range of presentations cover:

  • farming / agronomy / contracting / agricultural aviation
  • ginning / cotton classing / transport and logistics / engineering
  • banking / marketing / manufacturing
  • environmental science

Participation in Pushing the Boundaries is free to selected students. For further information on PTB please contact GTT on 07 4671 2258 or email info@gttc.com.au

In 2010 Pushing the Boundaries was funded by the Macintyre Valley Cotton Growers Association, Border Rivers Food and Fibre, Cotton Australia, Cargill Cotton, Cotton Seed Distributors and GTT.
