Provide First Aid - HLTAID011
Provide First Aid is nationally approved by WorkCover and is recognised in all States. This course provides participants with practical experience in the administration of first aid to injured or suddenly ill people prior to the arrival of medical assistance.
On successful completion of this course participants will be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of First Aid
Manage an unconscious casualty
Understand the anatomy and function of all parts of the body to aid in the recognition and management of wounds, shock, burns, fractures, heart attacks, strokes, asthma, diabetes, poisons, bites and stings
The Provide First Aid Certificate is valid for three years.
Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting - HLTAID012
Following industry consultation from July 2014 individuals working in the Education and Care Sector are required to undergo training in the HLTAID012 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting.
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. HLTAID012 applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.
Course outcomes contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulation (2011). This unit of competency has been approved by ACECQA and meets the requirements of First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis.
It focuses on medical emergencies that may be unique to small children and also provides an understanding of physical differences between children and adults and how the first aider may need to take a different approach when managing an ill or injured child.
The Provide First Aid in an Educational Setting Certificate is valid for three years.
CPR Update - HLTAID009
This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Guidelines, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
On successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a Statement of Attainment.. This course complies to policy advice by the Australian Resuscitation Council and, as per their guidelines, this unit is recommended to be completed every 12 months.
COST: $150.00 per participant – Full course
$85.00 per participant – CPR update
7.50am to 3.30pm - Full Course

after this time may not be permitted.
10.50am to 4.30pm - Full Course
7.50am to 10.30am - CPR Update
Please note: Due to the intensive nature of the training, the CPR course commences at 8.00am sharp and the Full course at 11.00am sharp entry after this time may not be permitted.
NOTE: All PFA Students are required to complete a work booklet prior to the day of the course. The work booklet may be completed online or a paper based version is available upon registration.
TRAINER: Immediate Response First Aid
For full day courses, please bring your own lunch as breaks are relatively short. A shop is located close by.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided for morning and afternoon tea.
