Queensland Boat Licence Course

This two day course consists of a theory component and an on-water practical assessment.  The theory component covers all aspects of safe boating and you will be required to complete the Maritime Safety Queensland exam.  The practical component takes place in the training provider's vessel and covers a variety of tasks including:

  • Man overboard

  • Berthing

  • Manoeuvring at low and high speeds

  • General navigation on the water

  • Emergency stops

Once you successfully complete the theory and practical assessments, you will be issued with a Statement of Competency.  You will be required to submit this with an Application Form to the Department of Transport and Main Roads to obtain your Queensland Marine Licence.  Please refer to the Main Roads website to view licence fees payable.  Your Statement of Competency for completing this course is only valid for six (6) months from the date of issue.

To obtain a Queensland Marine Licence, you must:

  • be at least 16 years of age

COST:                      $530.00 per person

THEORY COMPONENT:

  • Friday, 26 August 2022 from 5.30pm to 8.00pm (mandatory to attend)

PRACTICAL COMPONENT:

  • Saturday, 27 August 2022 at either 7.00am or 12.00pm; or

  • Sunday, 28 August 2022 at either 7.00am or 12.00pm

You will be required to indicate your preferred practical session on the Registration Form.  Please note there are limited spots ​available for each session and this will be allocated on a first in basis.
